Audiological Assessment

Allow for about 1 hour for your audiological assessment appointment. The assessment includes:

  1. A short interview with our trained staff
  2. A visual examination of the ear canal and eardrum
  3. Hearing acuity test for tones
  4. Speech perception test
  5. Assessment of middle ear function

In order to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for hearing aids, you need to undergo an audiological assessment or hearing test. The aims of the assessment are to determine:

  1. Degree of hearing loss, if any
  2. Nature of the hearing loss
  3. Whether the hearing loss is medically treatable or not
  4. A recommendation of the most suitable solution

Your results and our recommendations will be explained to you by your Sound id·EARS hearing health professional immediately following the assessment. Typically, with your consent an assessment report would also be sent to your family physician or referral agent for their information.
